Furry Four-legged Pets Fundraiser
Looking for an environmentally friendly fundraiser? Want something fun that benefits the whole community? How about a project that helps our four-legged friends into the bargain?
It’s easy to say ‘spay and neuter’ - but some people can’t afford it. Even basic shots can be too expensive at times! A great fundraising idea impacts the environment by cutting down on the dog and cat population explosion. This fundraiser does require a bit of lobbying to enlist the help of local animal shelters, pet stores/groomers and vets, so get an early start and put together a proposal they can’t refuse.
If you can hold a weekend event that offers a low cost shot clinic along with dipping, shampooing, nail trimming and grooming services, you can get people to show up and do something for their furry companions! Ask vaccine supply houses or pharmaceutical companies to donate basic shot packages, pet stores to give supplies and local groomers to show up for a few hours.
You can pull in volunteers to help bathe and brush, and administer flea and tick treatments for nominal fees. Set a minimum donation for shot services, and encourage people to be generous. Vet assistants or someone from the shelter can give shots, and if you have a really cool vet in the area you can raffle off a few free spay or neuter coupons for a few bucks a ticket.
The shelter could showcase a few pets needing a home, with a portion of adoption fees going to your cause. Donated pet food and supplies could be thrown in for ‘take them home’ pet ownership, along with coupons for future neutering and shots.
Everyone involved benefits from this type of fundraiser. Pet owners get to be responsible while the veterinarian and local businesses get a write off and some free advertising. The shelter has a chance to raise awareness, and maybe a few lucky pets get to find a home! You raise the funds needed for your project, and all of the individuals or organizations participating receive positive publicity.
