A concerted effort to have a minimal impact on the environment is a great way to get the public’s attention. Helping people keep their lawn and garden ‘Green’ in more ways than one can provide your group a chance to raise some money while showing how easy it is to garden green!

Get a local hardware store or large company in your town to front the cost for two old fashioned reel lawnmowers an straight edged, long handled edging tools. If you live in an area where you have access to a farm or riding stable, arrange in advance for a truck and assign several people to manure detail.

Canvass in the days leading up to the fundraiser, and advertise that you will be holding a green neighborhood cleanup on the chosen date. Be sure to mention that only hand tools and natural fertilizers will be used! You can charge anywhere from $20 to $50 for mowing and edging lawns, and sell your fertilizer by the bag!

Fundraiser day: You should have a schedule of shifts worked out to rotate teams every thirty minutes on the push reel-mower and the step-on edger. Others can help trim hedges, pull weeds and spread fertilizer, and still others can be on trash detail.

Have a few people designated to drive the workers and equipment from checkpoint to checkpoint. If you can get local businesses involved to sponsor empty lots or stretches alongside major roads, you can increase the fundraising potential!

Once you are done, you can store the tools for use in the future, and use any leftover fertilizer on flowerbeds and around shrubbery on school or church grounds.

This Gogreen fundraiser is impressive, because it performs a needed service and uses eco friendly tools and products to help the environment!
