Your town may not be Beverly Hills, folks, and you may not have a secluded five star spa tucked away in a remote mountain location, but you can have a great time at a spa run by kids! Prepare to be dazzled, amazed, impressed and sufficiently awed by the wide range of talents your children have. This fundraiser is as green as the seaweed mask you got that time in Aspen, and twice as fun!

The spa day can be set up by parents and performed by the kids. Plan on preparing all natural homemade spa products, such as vanilla scented water for massaging the temples and lemon juice to dab on freckles; cucumber slices for puffy eyes and green tea or iced lemonade for sipping.

Set up kiosks at a community center or church family center, and advertise for your special spa day! The five centers should include:

1.  Massage Booth. What’s better than a nice relaxing massage? The kids’ massage techniques can be innovative and fun - let the customers enjoy the feel of dump trucks racing across their back (massaging tools might vary). Laughter is free, so be sure you share in it.

2.  Hand and Foot Soak. Let the ladies slip off their heels and relax those tired feet and hands in specially created mixtures. Some of these mixtures could include (but not be limited to) an Epsom Salt soak or a chamomile tea soak. This will leave customers’ hands and feet looking soft and feeling yummy.

3.  Manicure/Pedicure. After the hand and feet soak, you’ll want to take advantage of the third step. Let the ladies pick their favorite color of nail polish and be prepared for small messes as kids paint fingernails and toenails. (Alcohol wipes to clean up around the edges might be a good idea!)

4.  (For the brave only!) Scrumptious Facials. Faces of more adventurous customers can be gently rubbed with an oatmeal and yogurt rub. Use shower caps to keep hair from getting sticky! The secret ingredient (honey)will leave your skin feeling young and smooth. This will need to sit for about fifteen minutes, to get the full effect, so a cat nap will be in order - have magazines available for those who have to wait!

5.  Hair Styling  These hair fashions should rival the long running musical “Hair Spray”. Bows, bobby pins, ribbons and scarves may be included in these one of a kind styles!  If you have a few older teens, let them offer a little judicious highlighting with temporary comb in color (not spray - it’s bad for the environment!!)

The suggested charge for this fundraiser would be $20 a person. This should cover supplies easily, and allow for a nice profit if you do your advertising and promotion right!  See if local beauty supply shops will donate stuff like barrettes, bobby pins and nail polish. After the spa treatment, invite parents to eat with their children at a little paid luncheon - they can show off their fancy new selves and give their kids a boost by appearing ‘in public’ all dolled up from their day at the spa!
